Speech &  Occupational Therapy Summer Camps

 

The Setting Skills Into Motion learning series is a combination of small group structured literacy, language & movement play group camps for young children with speech-language and/or occupational therapy needs. Although chronological age is used as a guideline, we also consider the developmental age and needs of each child when determining camp placement.

Hatchlings Therapeutic Learning Camp (Ages 3-5)

Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 9:00AM-12:00PM or 12:30-3:30PM

 

The Hatchlings Learning Camp is geared toward preschool aged children to enhance early literacy skills while developing communication, social interaction and play skills. A Speech-Language Pathologist and Special Educator create hands-on, exploratory learning based on your child’s individual needs. Early learning concepts include language, pre-reading and math skills. Fun camp activities with weekly themes, yoga, arts & crafts, water play, playground play, music, drama and much more!

Bonus – handwriting and fine motor activities led by a licensed Occupational Therapist.

 

Fledglings Therapeutic Learning Camp (Ages 5-7)

Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 9:00AM-12:00PM or 12:30PM-3:30PM

 

A fledgling is a young bird that has acquired its flight feathers. So… watch how your child’s imagination and creativity combine to ignite new discoveries of individuality and independence.  This unique summer experience combines the best of our speech-language and occupational therapy programs! Directed by Burke Therapy’s experienced team of speech language pathologists and occupational therapists, this year’s Fledglings Camp focuses on building skills in communication and social pragmatic language while addressing areas of sensory processing and motor planning through play. Arts and crafts, yoga, music, making healthy snacks, outdoor play, music, literacy and more make for an exciting summer!

 

~Fledgling Campers must have needs in either speech-language or occupational therapy, but do not have to have needs in both to participate in our camp programs. ~

 

Current evaluation reports or current IEP and/or observation are required for admission in Fledglings.

 

Summertime Group Facilitators: Julie Burke, M.S. CCC-SLP; Jennie Williams, M.S. CCC-SLP; Pam Mears, OTR/L; Kirsten Spear, OTR/L; Nancy Jensen, OTR/L & Certified Child Yoga Instructor; Marsha Adams, Social Skills Interventionist. 

 

Compliments of Burke Therapy, a healthy snack will be prepared daily by all camp participates under the supervision of our Occupational Therapist!  Please be sure your child arrives wearing sunscreen, has a change of clothes and a water bottle.
