Deborah DeBisschop, EdD, is an educator, educational researcher, founder of the Reading Proficiency Project, Orton Gillingham reading instructor, and adjunct professor with 15 years of experience teaching and leading in prekindergarten – fifth grade. Deb’s doctoral dissertation explored and explained degrees of coherence between reading policy goals and institutionalized reading instruction practices in 16 small rural schools in northwest Connecticut. Her ongoing research agenda focuses on transforming ineffective reading instruction practices that make learning to read confusing and difficult.
