SPEECH & OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY SUMMER CAMPS

The summer learning series is a combination of small group structured literacy, speech, language & movement play group camps for children with speech-language and/or occupational therapy needs. Although chronological age is used as a guideline, we also consider the developmental age and needs of each child when determining camp placement.

Little Friends Therapeutic Movement, Language & Learning Camp (Ages 3-5)

Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 9:00AM-12:00PM and/or 12:30-3:30PM

Starting June 24th – Aug. 1

Attend either the morning or afternoon sessions OR pack a lunch and stay for a full day with our daily lunch bunch.

The Little Friends Movement, Language and Learning Camp is a unique therapeutic summer experienced geared toward preschool/kindergarten aged children. Led by Burke Therapy's experienced team of Speech-Language Pathologists and Occupational Therapists, each weekly thematic unit will skillfully interlace language development and social communication while addressing areas of sensory processing and motor planning through one-to-one and whole group play. Bonus – handwriting and fine motor activities led by a licensed Occupational Therapist.

~ Campers must have needs in either speech-language or occupational therapy,

but do not have to have needs in both to participate.  ~

~ Current evaluation reports or a current IEP are required for admission.

Burke Therapy will administer a Pre-and-Post assessment and develop a written summary of

progress at the end of the camp experience. ~

Together with Our Friends Therapeutic Learning Camp (Ages 6-9)

This unique summer experience combines the best of our speech-language and occupational therapy programs! Directed by Burke Therapy’s experienced team of speech language pathologists and occupational therapists, this year’s Together with Our Friends Camp focuses on building skills in communication and social pragmatic language while addressing areas of sensory processing and motor planning through play. Bonus – handwriting and fine motor activities led by a licensed Occupational Therapist.

Together with Our Friends SPEECH Camp (Ages 6-10)

Tuesday & Thursday 12:30PM-2:00PM

Starting June 24th – Aug. 1

Our Together with Our Friends SPEECH Camp is an opportunity for children ages 6-10 with articulation and/or resonance errors to receive intensive intervention in a fun atmosphere.

 

Our Together with Our Friends SPEECH Camp is especially designed to target errors that are common in children with a history of Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS), cleft palate, VPI and/or other resonance disorders while building functional social language and social participation skills. 

  • Includes 3, 20-minute small group therapy sessions and one, 30-minute social skills group.

  • Develops individualized goals that are incorporated into each therapy interval.

  • Is conducted by a licensed speech-language pathologist with Level I PROMPT training and supported by graduate student clinicians studying in the area of speech-language pathology. 

  • Enrollment is limited to 6.

BOOST! – A Reading, Language & Learning Summer Camp (Ages 9-11)

Tuesday & Thursday 2:30-4:00PM

Starting June 24th – Aug. 1

 

Our BOOST Reading, Language & Learning small group therapeutic camp is designed for children ages 9-11 who struggle in the areas of language, reading, comprehension and learning.    

 

BOOST Reading, Language & Learning Camp:

  • is especially designed to target learning challenges that are common in children with a history of dyslexia, auditory processing, reading, comprehension and written expression deficits.   

  • includes 3, 20-minute small group multi-sensory sessions designed to BOOST phonological awareness, use language to express more complex ideas verbally and in writing, understand inferences, build vocabulary and improve reading and comprehension. Campers will also participate in one, 30-minute social skills group.

  • develops individualized goals that are incorporated into each therapy interval

  • is conducted by a licensed speech-language pathologist with the support of graduate student clinicians studying in the area of speech-language pathology.

  • Enrollment is limited to 5.

~ Current evaluation reports or a current IEP are required for admission.

Burke Therapy will administer a Pre-and-Post assessment and develop a written summary of progress at the end of the camp experience.

 

Registration is on a first-come, first-serve basis. Early registration is suggested.
